Matilda Jusu

Mrs. Matilda Jusu is the new Head of the Sierra Leone National Office. She is the first female to be appointed to the position in Sierra Leone.

Mrs. Jusu holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Sociology and a diploma in Adult Education both from Fourah Bay College University of Sierra Leone and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Management from the University of Ghana. She also holds a certificate from Cambridge Assessment Network, among others. She has participated in several training programmes.

She brings over two decades of experience to the role, having held several positions of trust. She began her career in the Council in 2002 as Assistant Registrar/Subject Officer, at the Test Development Division. Over the years, she has demonstrated unwavering dedication, integrity, resilience, and hard work, qualities that have paved the way for her achievements.

In 2011, she was appointed Branch Controller of Kenema on the opening of that office. She thus became the first Branch Controller for that office and also the first female to be appointed Branch Controller, in the Sierra Leone Office of the Council. In 2013, she served as Officer in Charge Results Verification Unit and Professional Examinations, a role she held for four years. From 2017 to 2021 she was Officer in Charge, post examination activities for WASSCE. From 2021 until her appointment as Head of National Office on 21st August 2025, she served as Acting Head of the Test Development Division.

Mrs. Jusu is committed to leading with integrity and ensuring that WAEC Sierra Leone continues to uphold its reputation as a pillar of educational excellence. A champion of transparency and educational advancement, she is known for her meticulous attention to details, collaborative spirit, and commitment and dedication to work.

As Head of National Office, Mrs. Matilda Jusu will leverage her extensive experience to strengthen the Council’s operations in Sierra Leone and ensure public trust.
